Professional profile
Whether my clients are first time buyers or experienced property landlords, I thoroughly enjoy helping them to reach their goals. Nothing makes me happier than to successfully obtain a mortgage when the client believed that they had no chance due to complexities that they presented to me. I will do all I can to achieve a positive outcome, I will challenge lenders if I believe that there is justification to challenge. A happy client is my number one priority!
Most of my earlier working life was spent as a fully qualified Master Photographer, where I specialised in weddings, family portraits and portfolios for entertainers.
In 2007, I decided to have a complete change in careers as I wanted a new challenge, I had a brief spell in the world of finance in my earlier working life and decided this is where my future belonged. I joined a well-known high street building society and trained as a mortgage and protection adviser.
In 2014 I moved into specialist lending specialising in Buy to Let mortgages. After a couple of years, I had to take some time out from working due to illness, when the time was right, I joined Balanced Financial Services which enabled me to get back to what I love doing, helping clients with their property purchases and remortgages.
Now get to know Paul a little deeper....
Born in Berkshire, I moved to Norfolk at the age of four. When I was seven, we moved to Perth, Western Australia and had a fantastic few years which I still remember fondly. Australia has a special place in my heart still to this day.
I have been married since 1995, we have three boys which have all left school now……...no more school runs!!!
As a family, we love to go on holiday, we are regular visitors to the Canary Islands as we are all sun worshippers, other memorable places that I have visited in the past are the USA, Switzerland, and Iceland (not the shop). I still have many places to visit on my bucket list.
Please don’t judge me, I am a huge supporter of Norwich City Football Club and a season ticket holder with my youngest son. I have many clients who are from Suffolk and support that team in blue, a little friendly banter about our teams puts a smile on their faces then we get on with business.
Dream job as a kid: A typical boy’s dream job, a pilot!
Favourite meal: I love a good Chinese meal, although as long as it is food, I will eat it 🤣
Favourite TV show: I don’t really have a favourite TV show, I like a good box set every now and again, but Football and Formula One are my favourite things to watch on TV.
Favourite tipple: I love a good glass of red wine at the weekend.
Tea or Coffee: Both!!! A good strong cappuccino in the morning to help me function and tend to drink tea the rest of the day.
Love: Sunny weather and a good holiday. Favourite holiday destination is definitely Tenerife. I also love Australia, I was lucky enough to live there as a kid.
Hate: Where do I begin, I had better keep this to myself!
Typical morning: Starts around 6.30 am with a good cup of tea, then I drive my wife to work at about 8am. Back to the office for a strong cup of coffee and catch up on my emails before starting my day doing what I do best, being a mortgage broker.
10 years’ time: On as many sunny beaches as I can squeeze in to my life as I would have reached retirement age by then 😬
Interesting fact: I used to be a wedding photographer, this was my profession for 16 years before I joined the world of mortgages.
Claim to fame: I was an extra in the 2019 film “Yesterday”, there were hundreds of us, but I was there in the crowd somewhere. Does that count?
Met any famous people: Where to begin……. I’ve shaken hands with John Travolta, met Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslett.
